The various pegmatite or gem crystals localities in the high mountains of Pakistan have yielded what are inarguably among the finest examples of Aquamarine in the world. There is no argument that the best MATRIX specimens of Aquamarine have come from this area. Most people associate Pakistani Aquas with the Shigar Valley, but nearby in Nagar, some really gorgeous pieces have been found for many years.
This attractive and showy small cabinet piece features a predominant, stout, sharp, GEM QUALITY, soft blue color, hexagonal crystal of Aquamarine which is aesthetically set atop beautiful bladed groups of silvery Muscovite.
The Aqua measures 1.8 cm. There is an additional Aquamarine crystal on the back of the piece which has an interesting "crack" in the middle where it was broken due to tectonic activity, and later healed ("re-healed"), and even allowed a tiny bit of Muscovite to grow inside the opening. A very good quality, showy display specimen of this classic material from Chumar Bakhoor.
